ORWIGSBURG - The Care Net Pregnancy Center of Schuylkill County will host its first Women's Share Fair on Saturday at the Schuylkill County Country Club.

Cheryl Cresswell, executive director of the Schuylkill County organization, said a share fair is like a meet-and-greet that "connects women in the community" by sharing ideas, stories and activities with one another. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the country club, 877 W. Market St., Orwigsburg.

"We have some pretty neat women sharing how they connect creatively with each other," Cresswell said.

Leslie Vernick, a licensed counselor and social worker with 25 years experience, is the keynote speaker.

"Leslie (Vernick) is a wonder speaker and author," Cresswell said. "She will be speaking about how to become the best you and character building."

The event will also have several other speakers from local organizations, including Joan Duncheskie from Shamokin Pregnancy Care Center and Susan Belsak from God's Helping Hands. Kathy Hassman will also talk about her unique ministry she calls the "Pottsville Walking Ministry."

According to its website, Care Net Pregnancy Center of Schuylkill County is a nonprofit organization that has provided services such as pregnancy testing, peer counseling and education for more than 13 years. All services are free and confidential.

There are two centers in Schuylkill County, located at 110 S. Centre St., Pottsville, and 223 E. Broad St., Tamaqua.

It is $25 to attend and includes lunch and materials for that day. To register, call the Pottsville center at 570-624-7244.
