n Pottsville: The four-person scramble golf tournament sponsored by the Northeast Pennsylvania Manufactuers and Employers Association is set for Sept. 13 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, Barnesville. This year's event, according to an MAEA release, will feature chair massages from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and beer stations on the course. The shotgun start is set for 1 p.m. Registration will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with a lunch buffet served during registration. There will be a dinner party at 6 p.m. and an open bar from 6 to 8 p.m. The golf and party package is $128, the golf-only package is $98 and the dinner party packate is $47. n Shenandoah: The Greater Shenandoah Area Senior Citizens group is accepting reservations for a bus trip to the Showboat casino, Atlantic City, from Sept. 12 to 14. n Shenandoah: The Lithuanian, Slovak and Polish contingents are calling on children and adults to participate in the Shenandoah Heritage Day and Parade of Nations on Aug. 24. Folks of Polish descent should turn out for the Polish group parade lineup at 9:30 a.m. the day of the event on North Jardin Street. It is expected there will be at least 21 ethnic groups taking part in the parade, representing the mosaic that makes up Shenandoah. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. heading south on Jardin to Cherry Street, east on Cherry to Main Street and north on Main to Washington Street and the Pennsylvania Anthracite Miners Memorial at the entrance to Girard Park. Events will continue in the park throughout the day including continuous entertainment, ethnic food stands of all flavors, myriad vendors as well as artists and crafters. There will also be opportunities for hikes and nature excursions along the wooded mountainside in northern areas of the park. Throughout the day, the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society's history center at 201 S. Main St. and the Schuylkill Historical Fire Society's museum and headquarters at 105 S. Jardin St. will be open for visitors. Heritage day and the parade are sponsored by the revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc.
