Volunteer Connection: There is still time to volunteer before school starts

It's back-to-school season, a time to plan for another successful year for your little ones. But parents and schools aren't the only one rolling up their sleeves to prepare.

The staff at Child Development, Inc.'s Minersville office is busy preparing for the children who will be returning in the fall to their six Head Start Centers throughout Schuylkill County, but they could use some helping hands with copying forms and documents that they'll be using for each child. They also need help compiling them and putting them in child packets for the teachers. Computer skills are not required.

Whether you can offer just one hour a week or have more hours to share, short- or long-term, they'd love to talk to you about setting up something that works for you. This is also a great opportunity to get graduation required community service hours for high school or college students, for high school-age Scouts, or for retired seniors who may have some extra time on their hands.

For more information about Child Development, Inc., volunteer opportunities, call 544-8959, ext. 200, or e-mail at www.childdevelop.org.
