ORWIGSBURG - A Deer Lake man remains in Schuylkill County Prison as he awaits further court action on charges he downloaded child pornography in June and July at his residence.
Tyler P. Kennedy, 29, of 601 Willow Road, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on five counts each of sexual abuse of children-disseminating photo or film of child sex acts and sexual abuse of children-child pornography and one of criminal use of a communication facility.
Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, who was to have presided over Kennedy's hearing, instead bound over all charges against him for the county court.
Kennedy sits in prison in lieu of posting $5,000, or 10 percent of his $50,000 percentage bail.
The state attorney general's office has charged Kennedy with downloading and viewing five videos depicting child pornography on his home computer between June 3 and July 25.
Agents from the attorney general's office said Kennedy, in an interview at his residence, at first said he accidentally saw the videos. However, he later admitted downloading child pornography and said he has been doing it for years, the agents said.
Furthermore, Kennedy said children as young as 1 and 2 years old are in the videos, according to the agents.
Kennedy's computer saved five videos and/or pictures depicting children under the age of 18 in various states of nudity and/or engaging in sexual activity, the agents alleged.Defendant: Tyler P. Kennedy
