FRACKVILLE - A 46-year-old Frackville man was picked up by state police Wednesday on a fugitive warrant from Virginia for sexual offenses.
John J. Krepich was taken into custody about 6 a.m. at his 119 E. Chestnut St. home by members of the Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit.
Trooper First Class Richard T. Drum said Krepich was wanted on the felony arrest warrant issued Aug. 9 by the Christiansburg Police Department, Christiansburg, Va., for obscene communications and sexual solicitation of a minor.
Drum said authorities in Virginia were looking for Krepich, accusing him of having obscene or lewd contact with a person he believed to be a minor on a computer.
The person Krepich was talking to was actually a police officer, Drum said.
On Aug. 13, Drum said he was contacted by Cpl. Paul Smith of the state police Computer Crimes Unit asking for help in serving the warrant on Krepich.
In his affidavit of probable cause, Drum had no specifics of the crimes Krepich allegedly committed in Virginia.
Maj. Dalton Reid with the Christiansburg Police Department said he could not provide additional information, referring all inquiries to district court in that state. The district court cannot release information until Krepich is in custody in Virginia.
A subsequent call to district courts in Montgomery County, Va., yielded no information and the name of John Krepich is not listed on Virginia's Judicial System online services site.
Krepich was taken before Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, Frackville, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on the felony charge of arrest prior to requisition to await extradition back to Virginia.
