Teen injured
in 3-car crash
MOLINO - A Cressona girl was injured in a chain-reaction crash Sunday afternoon on Route 61, about two-tenths of a mile north of Route 895 in West Brunswick Township, police said.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Anthony J. Fontana, 45, of Philadelphia, Marilyn Deleon-Cruz, 44, of Cressona, and Ciara S. Hosler, 21, of Girardville, were southbound on Route 61 in the construction zone approaching Route 895 at 2:35 p.m. when Fontana failed to see Deleon-Cruz's and Hosler's vehicles slowing for a traffic light ahead of them. Police said Fontana's 1996 Honda Accord hit the rear of Deleon-Cruz's 2007 Ford Mustang, pushing the Mustang into the rear of Hosler's 1995 Ford Explorer.
Police said Fontana and a passenger, Frances Fontana, 44, of Philadelphia, Deleon-Cruz and Hosler were all wearing seat belts and were not hurt. A 16-year-old girl in Deleon-Cruz's car suffered an injury and was transported from the scene by Orwigsburg Ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for treatment, police said. A child in Hosler's car was in a child safety seat and was also not hurt, police said.
Police said Anthony Fontana will be charged with failure to drive at a safe speed.
2 from Ashland
face charges
ASHLAND - Two men face charges following a disturbance that occurred at 7:36 p.m. Friday on Walnut Street and in the 200 block of Chestnut Street, police said.
Borough police said officers were called to the area of First and Walnut streets for a reckless driver, where Jeffrey Allen Fetterolf, 28, of 140 Rosies Road, Ashland, reportedly struck a curb with a brown Ford Ranger, damaging the front and rear left tires. Police said Fetterolf had already left the area when they responded, but were then called to Second and Chestnut streets for a disturbance at 7:42 p.m.
At the second location, police said Charles H. Davis, 41, of 100 Walnut St., Ashland, had observed the reckless driving incident and followed Fetterolf to Second and Chestnut, where Davis threw a brick through the rear window of Fetterolf's vehicle.
Police said Davis took a tire iron that Fetterolf had been using to change his tire and struck Fetterolf's windshield with it, damaging the windshield and then fleeing the scene. Police said an Ashland officer saw Davis leave the scene and a second officer was able to apprehend Davis.
Police charged Davis with criminal mischief and Fetterolf faces traffic violations.
Girardville police assisted with the incident, police said.
