Ashland woman

injured in crash

SAINT CLAIR - A 66-year-old Ashland woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 5 p.m. Monday on Route 61 in Blythe Township.

State police at Frackville said the crash occurred as a 2009 Ford Focus driven by Nancy L. Harris, 66, of Ashland, was traveling north on Route 61.

Harris made an abrupt lane change to avoid crashing into the rear of a 2004 Mack Vison driven by Derrick J. Harris, 42, of Allentown, which was driving at a slower speed due to the vehicle's weight.

Derrick Harris, driving a commercial vehicle, was traveling north with four-way flashers illuminated.

While Nancy Harris was attempting to pass Derrick Harris, she overcompensated and struck the driver's side of Derrick Harris's vehicle with her vehicle's passenger side.

After contact with the truck, her car overturned and landed on its wheels in both lanes of Route 61 north.

Derrick Harris was able to pull off the roadway onto the east shoulder.

Traffic was able to pass the crash scene in the west shoulder.

Nancy Harris was wearing a seat belt and was reported to have minor injuries.

She was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Derrick Harris, also wearing a seat belt, was not injured.

Police said the crash is still under investigation.
