men face charges
HOMETOWN - Three people are facing charges by Rush Township police after separate incidents in their coverage area.
On Nov. 19, police said they stopped a vehicle driven by Jonathan Steward, 29, of Lehighton, on Claremont Avenue for violations. He was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street where a blood test determined he had marijuana in his system.
Charges against Steward will be filed before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
On Sunday, police said Robert L. Clifford III, 20, of Lansford, is facing charges of retail theft for stealing items valued at $16.97 from Wal-Mart.
On Tuesday, police said a 17-year-old Oneida boy is facing charges of harassment after he punched another boy in the face on a school bus outside of Marian High School.
Clifford and the teen will also have to appear before Bayer in his Tamaqua courtroom.
2 escape injury
in 2-car collision
TREMONT - Two people escaped injury when their vehicles collided about 11:45 p.m. Thursday in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81, at mile marker 114 in Foster Township.
State police at Frackville said Terrey Conville, 46, of Pottsville, was driving a 2005 Mazda 3 north in the left passing lanes and, while trying to get back in to the right lane, was rearended by a 2004 Toyota 4Runner being driven by Christy Heinbach, 33, of Donaldson.
Both vehicles then spun onto the east berm and struck an embankment, police said adding that Heinbach will be cited as a result of the crash.

cited for assault
MAR LIN - A 16-year-old Mahanoy City girl is facing charges of aggravated assault after an incident about 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 in Norwegian Township.
Police said the charges against the teen will be filed with Schuylkill County juvenile authorities.
The girl, police said, became irate in a classroom and then tried to punch, kick and slap three men who were trying to restrain her.
