Snow isn't the only thing vexing motorists this week in the county.

PennDOT maintenance workers began patching potholes, cutting brush and sealing cracks Monday in nine municipalities.

Crack sealing will take place Tuesday in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill Haven borough and Pottsville on Route 61, between Route 443 and Route 209.

In Schuylkill Township, between Middleport and Tamaqua boroughs, brush cutting will occur on Route 209. Brush cutting will be done on Route 61 between Interstate 81 and the Burma Road in New Castle Township and Saint Clair borough.

Pothole patching in Foster Township will take place on Valley Road between Route 901 and Minersville. Flaggers will be present on the work scene. Pothole patching on Route 309, between routes 209 and 443, will take place in Tamaqua borough and West Penn Township, while repairs in New Castle Township and Saint Clair borough will take place on Route 61, between Interstate 81 and the Burma Road.

All repairs and maintenance should be finished Friday, with the exception of crack sealing, which began Tuesday in North Manehim Township, Schuylkill Haven borough and Pottsville.

Weather-related events could cause delays in the maintenance schedule; however, motorists should plan on active work zones from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. until work is complete Lane restrictions are possible, and all motorists are asked to use caution when traveling through the municipalities.
