NEW PHILADELPHIA - State police at Frackville are investigating a theft that occurred at 10 p.m. Monday at 36 Kimber St.

Police said someone entered through the front window of the second-story apartment of Brittany Loren Guris, 23, and stole a Playstation valued at $300.

DUI checkpoints

The North Central Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce announced that Sobriety Checkpoints and Roving DUI Patrols will be conducted today through Jan. 31 on routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 1008, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.

Travelers are reminded to call 911 if they suspect a drunk driver or to call, toll-free, 888-UNDER21, to report underage drinking.

Shen man faces

theft charge

SAINT CLAIR - A Shenandoah area man was charged with retail theft by Saint Clair police after an incident at 4:10 p.m. Dec. 24 at Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Police said Jason J. Pasavage, 35, of 85 Main St., Upper Shaft, will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Police said Pasavage was taken into custody at the store by an off-duty officer for taking items with an estimated value of $172.

He was placed in Schuylkill County Prison on an outstanding warrant, police said.

Minersville man

charged in theft

SAINT CLAIR - A Minersville man was arrested by Saint Clair police and charged with retail theft after an incident about 4:45 p.m. Jan. 3 at Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Police said Ryan Miggins, 22, of 21 Land St., will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Police said Miggins was apprehended by store security stealing two windshield wiper blades and car air fresheners valued at $33.08.

Woman accused

of damaging car

SAINT CLAIR - A borough woman was charged with criminal mischief by borough police after an incident that occurred about 3:10 p.m. Dec. 24.

Police said Rebecca L. Witmer, 20, of 54 Ann St., will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Police said officers were called to the area and met with Ethan Besbris, who said the mother of his child, Witmer, refused to let him leave and kicked his car door and ripped off a door handle.

Damage to the car was estimated at $157.04, police said.

Front yard grass

sustains damage

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating a criminal mischief incident that occurred between midnight and 11:59 p.m. Jan. 16 at 2 Edgewood Road in Norwegian Township.

Police said someone drove through the front yard of the home of Joel Felsburg, causing damage to the grass before fleeing.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-739-1330.

Man faces charges

for stealing DVDs

SAINT CLAIR - A Harrisburg man was arrested by Saint Clair police and charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property after an incident at 11:50 p.m. Jan. 8 at Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Police said Kadeem L. Weldon, 20, of 310 N. Third St., will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Weldon, police said, was charged after he was caught stealing eight DVDs valued at $188.68.

in store incidents

SAINT CLAIR - Two people face charges following separate incidents that occurred Jan. 11 at Wal-Mart Supercenter, police said.

Police charged Robert R. Rains, 77, of 527 W. Arch St., Pottsville, with harassment after he got into an argument with an employee about 5 p.m. Store personnel reported that Rains assaulted a customer service employee, but when questioned the man said that the worker "got into his face" and was flailing her hands near him, police said. According to police, said he pushed the worker's hands away and left the store.

About the same time, police said Sara J. Parry, 47, of 212 W. Arch St., Pottsville, was taken into custody at the store and charged with retail theft. Police allege she stole items valued at $83.82.

Both Rains and Parry will have to answer to the charges against them before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Police probe

hit-and-run

SAINT CLAIR - Borough police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred between 2 p.m. Jan. 2 and 5 a.m. Jan. 3 at 139 N. Mill St.

Police said Elizabeth Williams, Saint Clair, was at her boyfriend's house and went to her vehicle about 5 a.m. and found it had been struck and damaged on the driver's side fender. Police said it appears that a vehicle making a right turn from Franklin Street slid on the snow and struck the vehicle, after which the driver fled.

SAINT CLAIR - Borough police charged a Pottsville man with retail theft after an incident about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Police said Ian J. Lynch, 22, 166 Schaeffer Hill Road, will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Police said Lynch and his girlfriend were in the store's electronics section where he picked up Sony headphones and an iHOME clock, walked to another area and took them out of the original packaging before placing them in the woman's purse.

SAINT CLAIR - A Pottsville man was charged by Saint Clair police with harassment after an incident that occurred about 9:30 p.m. Sunday at 40 S. Second St., Apt. B.

Police said Michael G. Reno II, 22, of 909 W. Norwegian St., will have to answer to the charge before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Police said Reno was charged after he struck Amanda Wallace, 24, in the face at her apartment, causing bruising.
