n Ashland: The confirmation class of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold a "Just Dance 4 Wii" competition beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday to benefit the American Cancer Society. The competition will be held in the church's fellowship hall. Refreshments will be available. Contestants will pick the song to dance to. The person with the most correct moves on a dance will receive a trophy. The cost to enter is $5. Spectators are welcome to cheer on the contestants. n Frackville: Frackville Rotary Club President Suzanne Domalakes announced at a recent breakfast meeting that the club will conduct its semi-annual Cinderella's Closet evening gown sale from noon to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Schuylkill Mall. The Cinderella's Closet program was initiated by former North Schuylkill High School student Jessica Dalton, who asked the club to continue the program after her graduation from high school and enrollment in college. All gowns are $10. Shoes and accessories are $1. Domalakes also announced that she will attend the mandated President-Elect Training Session to be held the weekend of Feb. 28 in Hagerstown, Md. The next Omega health screening will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. March 29 at the Frackville Senior Citizens Center, Frack Street and Broad Mountain Avenue. For a fee, blood samples will be taken, analyzed with the results forwarded to a doctor of the person's choice.

n Nuremberg: The Nuremberg Area Food Pantry is located in the North Union Township Municipal Building. The site contacts are Joe Markoskie at 570-384-4130 and Susan Driscoll at 570-384-4342. The pantry services Nuremberg and parts of Union, North Union and East Union townships. The distribution schedule is 9 to 11 a.m. the third Saturday of every months. Schuylkill Community Action facilitates the food pantries.

n Pine Grove: The Pine Grove Area Food Pantry is located in the PGACC Church School, 200 School St. The site contact is Cathy Nagle at 570-345-3033. The pantry serves Pine Grove borough and Washington and Pine Grove townships. Its distribution schedule is 9 a.m. to noon monthly on the third Saturday. Schuylkill Community Action facilitates the food pantries.

n Port Carbon: The Port Carbon Area Food Pantry is located at Avenues, Agricultural Park, Pottsville. Ginny Wallace is the site contact, call 570-622-7920. The pantry serves Port Carbon and Mechanicsville boroughs. Its distribution schedule in monthly on the third Thursday. People should always call on the second Friday to register. Schuylkill Community Action facilitates the food pantries.

n Saint Clair: The next meeting of the Saint Clair Community and Historical Society is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the society building, North Nicholas Street. New members are welcome.

n Shenandoah: Due to inclement weather, the revitalization group Downtown Shenandoah Inc. rescheduled its Jan. 21 meeting to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, at its downtown office, 116 N. Main St. The public is invited to learn more about the facade program during the meeting.

n Tamaqua: Zion Lutheran Church, Greenwood and Mauch Chunk streets, will hold a Super Bowl soup and hoagie sale with pickups from noon to 4 p.m. Feb. 1. Soup flavors will include chili, vegetable beef, broccoli cheese and chicken noodle at $6 per quart. The cost for hoagies is $5 each. To order, call Shirley at 570-668-0623 by Monday.

n William Penn: A benefit event for Robert Mummey, a leukemia patient, is set for 4 p.m. to midnight Feb. 22 at the William Penn Firehouse, 166 Mount Olive Blvd. The admission fee is $25 per person and $12.50 for children under 12. Children under 5 will be admitted free. The ticket price includes dinner, beverages and entertainment. Two bands, Another Side and One Inch Gap, will perform. There will also be a silent auction to win products and services donated by local businesses, friends and family. All money raised will help the family with medical expenses. n Zerbe: The Newtown Volunteer Fire Company, 36 Wood St., will sponsor a dance from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the firehouse, featuring music by the band Mindset. The cover charge is $5. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 570-695-3777. The fire company will also stage a cheesesteak sandwich sale from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the firehouse.
