n Lansford: The Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., beginning today is offering assistance in preparing income tax forms 1040A and 1040EZ and Pennsylvania state tax returns. The service will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays for seniors 60 and older. Donations to support the library will be accepted. Other interested people can get assistance at the library from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays. A fee will be charged for the services with all proceeds to benefit the library. Appointments are necessary. Call the library at 570-645-3780 to schedule an appointment or for more information.

n Mar Lin: The Schuylkill County Interagency Coordinating Council will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, 17 Maple Ave. ICC's purpose, according to a press release, is to "promote a community-based collaboration that includes parents, professionals and providers of early intervention services as well as others interested in the health and welfare of children with developmental delays and/or physical handicapping conditions and their families." n Pine Grove: A program called "Peregrine Falcons: The Saga of Recovery," will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the clubhouse at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park. Peregrine falcons, according to a release, are the fastest of all animals with diving speeds of up to 200 mph. They were completely extirpated from eastern North America are making a remarkable comeback. Art McMorris, Peregrine Falcon coordinator for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, will present the program, which is free and open to the public. n Pine Grove: Fisherman and fly tier Bruce Schneck and other members of Trout Unlimited will give fly tying classes from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the clubhouse at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park on Feb. 13, 20 and 27. Admission is free but those interested should call 717-647-4362 to register so that adequate supplies are available.

n Port Carbon: A shop-and-drop auction to benefit the St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund is set for 4 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14 and 15 at Grace United Methodist Church, 233 Coal St. Tickets are $3 a sheet. The drawing will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 15 and all winners will be notified by phone. For more information, call 570-573-1946.

n Port Carbon: A "Sweetheart Spaghetti Dinner" will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 15 at Grace United Methodist Church, 233 Coal St. to benefit the Port Carbon Citizens Committee for the July 4 parade and fireworks. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10. Dinners will include spaghetti and meatballs, a salad, roll and butter. Patrons may eat at the church or take meals out. All are welcome.

n Saint Clair: The Schuylkill Transportation System will offer all fare-paying passengers the opportunity to ride any fixed-route bus, all day, for $1 on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. Passengers need to purchase their ticket from the driver while boarding the bus. Registered senior citizens always ride free with their bus pass. n Shenandoah: Copies of "Shenandoah, A Look Back in Time," compiled by retired Shenandoah Valley School District educator Robert C. Yudinsky, have been provided for display to the Shenandoah Area Free Public Library, Washington and Main streets; Catizone's Barber Shop, North Main Street; Shenandoah Senior Living Community, East Washington Street, and Downtown Shenandoah Inc., North Main Street. A copy will also be available at the 201 S. Main St. headquarters of the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society when it reopens in the spring. The work involves a collection of photos of Shenandoah from the late 1800s to the 1970s - more than 200 photos over nine decades, segmented by categories that include the Main Street business district, residential streets, anthracite mining, volunteer fire companies, centers of learning and houses of worship.

n Tamaqua: Cake decorating with Daughn Edmunds is on tap for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St. The cost is $10, which includes a decorating bag and tools. For more information, call the center at 570-668-1192.
