Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at routes 209 and 901 in Norwegian Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the crash occurred as a 2002 Subaru Outback, driven by John J. Krzyston, 88, of Muir, with passenger Beth L. Krzyston, 85, of Muir, was traveling north on Route 209 and was at the stop sign at the intersection of Route 901.

A 2005 Toyota Corolla, driven by Stacey M. Daubert, 38, of Pottsville, was traveling east on Route 901.

Krzyston pulled into the intersection in front of Daubert, who was unable to brake in time.

The front of Daubert's vehicle struck the driver-side door of Krzyston's vehicle.

After impact, Krzyston's vehicle was pushed sideways for about 38 feet and then spun clockwise for about four feet and came to rest.

John and Beth Krzyston suffered minor injuries, while Daubert suffered moderate injuries.

John Krzyston was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign and charges were filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Pottsville, Llewellyn and Mar Lin, as well as Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven EMS and Minersville EMS.

UNION FURNACE - State police at Frackville charged a Girardville man with failing to stay in his lane after the man attempted to pass another vehicle but hit its front end Thursday in Blythe Township.

William J. Thomas, 19, of Girardville, was driving a 1998 BMW 323 north on Route 61 in an area known as "The Grade." Thomas was in the left lane and attempted to pass a 2001 Subaru Legacy GT driven by William T. Honicker Jr., 54, of Cressona. While making a lane change into the right lane, Thomas struck the front of Honicker's vehicle at 2:08 p.m., police said.

Both vehicles hit the guide rail and both traveled roughly 40 feet before coming to rest. Thomas's vehicle sustained major front end damage and had to be towed. Honicker's sustained moderate passenger-side damage but was driven from the scene, police said.
