n Locustdale: Art and Vicki Reyes, Christian missionaries to Mexico, will speak in area churches during March and April. Everyone is invited to Good News Bible Church at 3 p.m. March 23 when they will report on their work, according to a press release. They have been involved as church planters with The Evangelical Alliance Mission since May 1992, serving in San Jose del Cabo, near the tip of the Baja peninsula.

n Mahanoy City: Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish will hold a Lenten Mission from March 23 to 26 with the theme "How Far is Heaven?" There will be different features each day. For details, call Debbie Walker at 570-773-0813.

n Mahanoy City: The Mahanoy Area High School Theater Arts presentation of "Damn Yankees" is set for 7 to 10 p.m. March 28 and 29 in the high school auditorium. n Pottsville: The Schuylkill County YMCA is planning a spring fundraising event to foster its growth planned for the coming years, according to a Y press release. The organization's annual Spirit of the Y Dinner and Auction received a boost last year, topping previous attendance and fundraising efforts. This year's Spirit of the Y event will be held April 11 at the Walk In Art Center, Schuylkill Haven. Tickets are on sale now at the Y, 520 N. Centre St., Pottsville, or call 570-622-7850. The event will include live and silent auctions, gourmet dinner stations by Carmelo's Roman Delight, a program highlighting some of the Y's honored guests, a disc jockey and an opportunity for guests to preview some of the programing enhancements the Y is undertaking, officials said in the release. For more than 16 years, the county Y has been serving youth, adults and families "with activities that strengthen the spirit, mind and body." The Y has about 1,500 members.

n Schuylkill Haven: "36-24-36," described as a "dynamic, 75-minute theatrical experience exploring the impact of our cultural obsession with body image and food," will be shown at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Morgan Auditorium on Penn State Schuylkill campus, according to the campus' Spring 2014 Community Cultural Events Calendar. It involves "a powerful series of vignettes" and "captures the multitude of ways in which body image inhibits, imprisons and destroys human lives," according to the calendar. It's a true story about dieting, weight obsessions, exercise addictions, compulsive over-eating, bulimia and anorexia. It combines "comedy and tragedy" and "exposes the pain, devastation, depression, isolation, secrecy and myopia associated with food, body image and a growing epidemic of eating disorders." The presentation is in conjunction with Women's History Month. To reach the campus, call 570-385-6000.

n Shenandoah: The St. Stephen Roman Catholic Parish Auxiliary is sponsoring a bus trip to the Mount Airy Casino on April 6. The bus will depart at 9 a.m. from the Shenandoah branch of M&T Bank, Main and Centre streets, and depart from the casino at 5 p.m. for the return trip. n Shenandoah: First United Methodist Church, Oak and White streets, is sponsoring its annual homemade Easter egg sale, with the order deadline set for March 28. Flavors include cherry, coconut, butter cream and light peanut butter. The cost is $1 each and $12 per dozen. Specialty eggs - butter cream, dipped in chocolate, rolled in nuts - are $2 each. n Tamaqua: A group interested in ensuring that the North and Middle Ward Playground remains open will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. All resident are welcome to attend.
