FRACKVILLE - An Ashland woman arrested by West Mahanoy Township police after a vehicle stop in the 500 block of Altamont Boulevard on Jan. 31 had the most serious charge against her withdrawn by prosecutors.

Shaina C. Skocik, 28, of 910 Walnut St., was charged by Patrolman Ray Tonkinson III with misdemeanor altered, forged or counterfeit documents and plates as well as summary offenses of carrying and exhibiting a registration, registration and certificate of title required and driving without insurance.

Prosecutors withdrew the misdemeanor offense while court records showed Skocik pleaded guilty to the summary charges and will pay the attached fines.

Tonkinson said he stopped a vehicle driven by Skocik for having a functioning license plate lamp and a subsequent check of the license plate determined it had expired in July 2013.

During the stop, Tonkinson said Skocik as unable to provide her registration or proof of insurance and a check of the plate showed it had a sticker of "4/14."

When it was determined the vehicle did not have insurance, Tonkinson said he removed the plate and had the SUV towed from the scene.

SHENANDOAH - A Norristown woman charged with a theft at the Cocoa Hut store in Mahanoy City on Oct. 26 waived her right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker.

Tracy M. Mundy, 46, of 424 Jennifer Lane, was arrested by Mahanoy City police Patrolman Jonathan McHugh and charged with one felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor offense of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

By waiving her right to a hearing, Mundy will have to answer to both charges against her in Schuylkill County Court.

McHugh said he was at the business when a clerk told him that Mundy placed two bottles of mouthwash in her pocket and would try and leave without paying. When stopped, Mundy turned over one bottle of mouthwash and left.

McHugh said outside he found the woman by a Dumpster where she drank the other bottle and placed the empty container in the trash. Since Mundy had three prior arrests for retail theft, the incident at Cocoa Hut was graded a felony offense, McHugh said.

Other court cases included:

John H. Pryce, 61, of 552 Mount Olive Blvd., Lost Creek - waived for court: DUI and failure to stop at a red signal.

Dale J. Carls, 36, of 1 E. Hollywood Blvd., Hazleton - withdrawn: possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Waived for court: DUI-controlled substance.

Eduardo Hidalgo Lopez, 34, of 182 Indiana Ave., Shenandoah - held for court: DUI, DUI-high rate and disregard for single traffic lane.

Lauren Valentine, 24, of 205 Pioneer Road, Shenandoah - held for court: possession of drug paraphernalia.
