FRACKVILLE - Six people were injured, including a woman who had to be flown to a local hospital, after two vehicles collided Saturday afternoon in the borough.

Borough police said the accident occurred at 2:01 p.m. when Francis Caulfield, 75, of Girardville, was driving a 2013 Ford SUV south on S. Lehigh Ave. While rounding the curve just before Spring Street, Caulfield's vehicle collided with a northbound 1999 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Ann Catizone, 28, of Lost Creek.

"It appears the red vehicle veered into the blue car's lane, and they collided," borough police Sgt. Marvin Livergood said at the scene.

Catizone had to be extricated from her vehicle by firefighters from the Goodwill Fire Company, Frackville. She was then transported to the Schuylkill Mall and flown to Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.

A hospital representative said Caitzone was in stable condition Saturday night.

Caulfield and a passenger in his vehicle - Dona Lally, 62, of Lost Creek - were transported by EMS to Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Michael Uholic, 29, Shenandoah, and two children, ages 1 and 2, were passengers in the Pontiac and were also transported by EMS to a local hospital.

After the initial impact, the Pontiac came to a rest on the sidewalk, and the SUV slid into a parked vehicle owned by Michele Frie, Port Carbon.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene. Police are still investigating the accident.

Frackville Community Ambulance, Shenandoah Ambulance and Goodwill Fire Company, Frackville, assisted at the scene.
