2 charged after
separate incidents
HOMETOWN - Two people are facing charges by Rush Township police after incidents at the Wal-Mart shopping complex.
Police said J.D. Williams, 20, of Drums, is facing retail theft charges after stealing $33.72 worth of items Thursday from Wal-Mart.
Then, on Saturday, police said Jasmin L. McCarroll, 28, of Tamaqua, is facing charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after she went into the Climb-A-Lot Clubhouse intoxicated.
Both will now have to answer to the charges before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua.
Woman flown
after crash
HOMETOWN - A Mahanoy City woman was flown to a trauma center after the van she was driving crashed in Rush Township about 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
Rush Township police said Amy Peel, 34, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet van west on Fairview Street when she went off the road and struck a utility pole at the intersection with Bernhard Avenue.
Police said their investigation into the accident is continuing and that the woman's vehicle was towed from the scene.
