n Girardville: Ash collection in the borough is every week on Fridays throughout the summer months. The twice-weekly collections will return in October.

n Gratz: The third annual Wild Cat Ridge Music and Wine Festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m. June 7 at the Gratz Fairgrounds, Route 25. The event will feature local wineries and a variety of food, crafts and entertainment. Participants must be 21 or older. n Kulpmont: The St. Mother Pauline Healing Heart of Jesus Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. the second Monday of the month at the St. Pauline Center, 1150 Chestnut St. More about the center is available at its website at www.saintpaulinecenter.org.

n Mahanoy City: Blessed Teresa Roman Catholic Church is sponsoring an overnight trip to Resorts Casino July 13-15. The cost is $280 per person (double occupancy). Single pricing is also available. n Pine Grove: To mark the American Hiking Society's National Trails Day on June 7, people are invited to walk the trails at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Patrick M. "Porcupine Pat" McKinney, environmental education coordinator with the Schuylkill Conservation District, will lead hikers in a program that will highlight the transition from spring to summer. Participants will meet at the Waterfall Road parking lot. The event, free and open to the public, is suitable for all ages.

n Schuylkill Haven: The second annual Summer BBQ Bash is set for noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Fire Company No. 4. It will include a poker run beginning at noon, Chinese auction from noon to 8 p.m., a pig roast from 3 to 9 p.m. and a fire truck parade at 5:30 p.m. There will also be food, entertainment and refreshments. n Sheppton: East Union Township police and code officers have been conducting walk-around inspections for code violations in Sheppton, Oneida and Brandonville. Citizens wanting more information about the action should call the township building.

n Tamaqua: Zion Church, 489 Valley Road near Heisler's Dairy Bar, will sponsor an old-fashioned social and basket raffle from 4 to 7 p.m. June 7. The free event will include food, games and entertainment by the Cressona Band and the Cressona Junior Band. For more information, call 570-366-0436.

n Tamaqua: St. Jerome Regional School will sponsor the fifth annual Debra Early Memorial 5K from 7:30 a.m. to noon June 7 at Marian High School, Hometown. Advance registration is $20 and on race day, $25. Registration will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and the race will begin at 9 a.m. T-shirts will be given to the first 50 registrants.
