n Coaldale: The borough will hold the first of three community yard sales from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 14. The other sales are slated for July 12 and Aug. 9. The fee to rent space at the Coaldale Complex is $10. For more information, call 570-645-6310.

n Cressona: St. Mark's United Church of Christ, 30 Pottsville St., will have a free "VBS Workshop of Wonders" from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 15 for children 2 through 12. In a release, the church invited participants to "grab a hammer, find a paintbrush and put on your creative thinking cap ... discover how the ordinary becomes extraordinary with God." n Friedensburg: Pink Weekend to aid the Breast Cancer Research Foundation is set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 7 and 8 at Pine Creek Country Gardens & Landscaping, 1425 Long Run Road. There will be a raffle and bake sale to raise funds. There will also be local vendors. "Major portions" of Pine Creek's sales for the weekend will go to the foundation. Other features will be Nuthin' Fancy barbecue, What's in the Oven pies and Tastefully Simple food. Y102 Rock Variety and the Sterling Koch Trio will perform from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. n Hegins: The Hegins Area Ambulance will sponsor a free emergency medical services event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9 at the Cressonal Mall. n Mahanoy City: All class representatives are being urged to attend the Mahanoy Township High School Alumni group meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Good American Hose Company. Letters concerning the upcoming multi-class reunion will be distributed. Representatives are asked to have the letters mailed to their respective classes by the end of the month. The alumni will hold its ninth reunion for everyone who attended Mahanoy Township High School from its inception until the school merged with high schools from Mahanoy City and Gilberton in 1959. This year's reunion will be held Sept. 11 at Mountain Valley Golf Course. Additionally, a 95th birthday celebration will be held to honor Vice President Frank Selgrath, who spearheaded the revival of the MTHS Alumni. For more information, call 570-668-6707.

n McKeansburg: The Congregational Free Church of Christ is accepting table rentals for an indoor/outdoor yard sale to be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 14 at the church, 81 McKeans Ridge Road. Tables are $10 each and the deadline to reserve one is May 24. For more information, call 570-366-2049.

n Pottsville: A children's theater camp titled "Frozen Adventure" is slated for 9 a.m. to noon June 9-13 at the Pottsville Gymnastics & Theatrical Center Inc., North Centre Street. The camp is open to youngsters ages 5-12. It will feature songs from the popular movie and participating students will be introduced to all aspects of musical theater - acting, singing and dancing. n Pottsville: Schuylkill County Treasurer Jacqueline V. McGovern announced in a press release that her office will begin selling hunting licenses for the 2014-15 hunting season beginning Monday. The office, according to the release, has four PALS terminals to facilitate the process of issuing antlerless deer licenses. Her office is committed to processing doe licenses "promptly and efficiently," she said in the release. The first day to receive antlerless deer license applications for Pennsylvania residents in the "pink registration envelope" is July 14. The first day to receive non-resident antlerless deer license applications is July 28. Any hunter who pays with a money order will receive his/her doe license upon processing and any hunter who pays with a check will receive the license in the mail about three weeks from the date of issue. n Schuylkill Haven: The Teen Challenge Choir, composed of young men from throughout the United States, will present a program of gospel music at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Covenant United Methodist Church, 215 E. Main St.

n Tamaqua: Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church will again host a GriefShare program designed to assist people who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The course is based on the bible but non-denominational. Meetings will begin at 10 a.m. June 10 and continue at 10 a.m. Tuesdays for the next 13 weeks in the church conference room at 223 E.
