Shen man injured

in Route 339 crash

MAHANOY CITY - One person was injured when a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria crashed about 10:20 a.m. Tuesday on Brandonville Road, Route 339, just north of Hills Terrace in Mahanoy Township.

State police at Frackville said George J. Zambroski, 66, of Shenandoah, was driving south on a slight left curve when he either fell asleep or lost consciousness, traveled across the southbound lane and went off of the road and hit and sheared a utility pole.

After hitting the pole, police said, the car crossed both lanes of the highway and struck an embankment adjacent to the north shoulder.

Police said Zambroski suffered facial injuries and was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street by Shenandoah EMS for treatment.

A passenger, William G. Horwath, 61, of Mahanoy City, was not injured, police said, adding Zambroski will be cited as a result of the crash.

Mahanoy City police and firefighters assisted at the scene, police said.

Woman arrested

on warrant

GIRARDVILLE - A woman was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on a warrant by Girardville police after an incident about 7:30 p.m. May 17 on West Mahanoy Avenue.

Police said officers observed a vehicle driven by Krissy Cress-Reich, 31, whose address was not available, go off of the road and subsequently pulled the woman over.

Police said it was determined the woman was wanted by the Schuylkill County Adult Probation Department for a parole violation and she was then placed under arrest.

Kress-Reich was then committed to Schuylkill County Prison on the outstanding warrant and Butler Township Police assisted with the vehicle stop, police said.

2 not hurt when

vehicle hits rock

BARNESVILLE - Two people escaped injury when their vehicle hit a rock which had fallen from an embankment onto the roadway in Mahanoy Township on Wednesday, according to state police at Frackville.

It occurred at 4:42 p.m. Wednesday on a section of Route 54 referred to as "The Vulcan," about 984 feet west of Barnesville Drive, police said Thursday.

Raymond R. Miller, 69, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 1996 Buick Estate Wagon Roadmaster west in the right lane when he struck a rock that had fallen onto the road. It flattened his passenger side front tire and the vehicle turned right into the rock embankment, police said.

Miller then drove his vehicle to the top of The Vulcan to a safe location to stop. He and his passenger, Dolores L. Miller, 67, of Mahanoy City, were not injured, police said.

1 injured in 3-car

crash on Rt. 443

ORWIGSBURG - One person suffered minor injuries when three vehicles crashed about 1:45 p.m. Monday at Route 443 and North Greenview Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said William T. Jones, 87, of Pottsville, was driving a 2001 Buick LeSabre east on Route 443 when he ran into the back of a 2002 Saturn S Series driven by Brian S. Ringler, 49, of Orwigsburg, who was stopped.

The impact forced Ringler's vehicle into the back of a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Melvin K. Huber, 80, of Myerstown, who was stopped at the intersection waiting to make a left turn, police said.

Ringler suffered minor injuries and was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street for treatment. Huber and Jones were not injured, police said, adding that Jones will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed.

LENHARTSVILLE - A burglary that occurred at 376 Blue Rock Road in Greenwich Township, Berks County, between 6:50 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Tuesday is being investigated by state police at Hamburg.

Police said Bruce and Sharon Stump reported someone entered their home by kicking in the front door and, once inside, rummaged through dresser and desk drawers stealing jewelry and alcoholic beverages.

Cressona man

facing charges

CRESSONA - A 31-year-old Cressona man, whom state police at Schuylkill Haven did not identify, is facing charges after an incident at 6:05 p.m. Tuesday at 91 Front St.

Police said the man punched Stephen Dronick, 40, of Cressona, in the head and then kicked him several times, causing injuries while he was lying on the ground.

The attacker was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled substances and will be charged before Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg, with simple assault and drug-related charges.

SUV painted blue

in Frackville

FRACKVILLE - Frackville police are investigating a criminal mischief incident in the 100 block of East Oak Street that was reported at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said officers were called to 104 E. Oak St. and told by Dennis Tempest that someone sprayed blue paint on his 2004 Mercury Mountaineer during the overnight hours Monday into Tuesday.

Police said the entire right side of the SUV was painted with blue paint and the driver's side door area was splashed with what appears to be brown paint.

2 escape injury

in Berks crash

BETHEL - Two people escaped serious injury when the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox they were in crashed on New Bethel Church Road, about 4 p.m. Tuesday just south of Trexler Road in Albany Township, Berks County.

State police at Hamburg said Leonard J. Christman, 50, of Kempton, was driving north when he swerved to avoid a deer that entered the highway, crossed into the southbound lane and went off of the road.

The SUV struck a small barbed wire fence, went down an embankment where it struck a small tree and rolled onto its driver's side before coming to a stop.

Christman was taken to Reading Hospital by Northwestern EMS for evaluation while his passenger, Ellen L. Christman, 50, also of Kempton, refused medical treatment.

Police said Leonard Christman will be cited for failure to drive on roadways laned for traffic as a result of the crash.

Mahanoy woman

jailed for threats

MAHANOY CITY - A borough woman was jailed after being arrested by Mahanoy City police after an incident at 10:55 a.m. Thursday at 306 E. Centre St.

Police said Narolin Trinidad, 822 E. Pine St., was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah, on charges of terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of 10-percent of $5,000 bail.

Police said officers were called to the Centre Street home for a report of an unwanted person and found Trinidad on the sidewalk yelling at Tyler Yasembowski.

In the presence of officers Trinidad threatened to kill the man and to kick down the door of the home, police said.

When being taken into custody the woman resisted and knocked handcuffs out of the hands of an officer before being subdued.

Mahanoy man faces

bribery charge

MAHANOY CITY - A Mahanoy City man is free on bail after being arrested by borough police stemming from an incident about 6 p.m. Monday at 239 E. Pine St.

Police said Glenn Williams III, 23, of 29 S. D St., was arraigned on two felony counts of bribery and released on $10,000 unsecured bail set by Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker, Shenandoah.

Police said Cpl. Michael Dissinger conducted a traffic stop on Williams earlier in the day and charged him with driving with a suspended license.

Williams later came to the police station and asked if there was any way to get out of the citation and was told there was not, police said.

When told he could not get out of the citation, Williams told Dissinger he would put $500 in his hand to "make the citation go away," police said.

Pottsville man

charged in theft

SAINT CLAIR - Saint Clair police charged a Pottsville man with retail theft and corruption of minors after a March 6 incident at Wal-Mart.

Police said Bobby Lee Taylor, 23, was seen by store security with a juvenile when he loaded merchandise valued at $1,167.96 and left without paying.

Police said the two then fled on foot and a subsequent investigation led to charges being filed against Taylor.
