charged in theft
HOMETOWN - A Hazle Township, Luzerne County man faces felony charges after a series of thefts at Wal-Mart on June 7.
Rush Township police said Michael Bodner, 33, will be charged with retail theft and receiving stolen property, both felony offenses, after stealing items valued at $2,797.49.
Police said Bodner walked in and out of the store six times, and that each time he left he had a shopping cart full of items for which he did not pay.
The charges will be filed with Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, police said.
Burglary attempt
at recycling site
AUBURN - State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an attempted burglary that occurred at Cougle's Recycling Center, 800 W. Market St., between 10 p.m. June 6 and 5:30 a.m. June 7.
Police said someone went to the rear of the building and tried to force open a locked sliding metal door. The person or persons damaged the locking mechanism's hardware and fled on foot.
