HEGINS - Tri-Valley School District is currently looking to adjust their elementary school attendance boundaries.
Superintendent Mark Snyder said the reason for the adjustment is to provide favorable class sizes throughout the district.
"The last time this occurred was about nine years ago," Snyder said. "While we are still very much in the data analysis phase, I would anticipate that a final decision and subsequent parental notification will take place within the next three weeks."
The district is currently undergoing construction projects at both Hegins-Hubley and Mahantongo elementary schools. School will begin on time and the project will be completed sometime next year.
The Citizen-Standard previously reported the district adopted the transportation contract with Bowman Brothers Trucking.
According to Snyder, there is no fixed contract amount to compare to previous years, which he said is the case with every other school district.
"Bowman's compensation is based on the Pennsylvania State Contracted Vehicle Allowance Formula," Snyder said. "Basically, this is a PDE (state Department of Education) formula that includes such variables as the number of students transported, miles traveled, number of school days, age of buses, etcetera. The balance of the very brief contract deals with fuel adjustments and field trip/extra-curricular rates."
