State exhibition
Valerie Perez-Prosick, Frackville, announced that one of her bracelets has been accepted into the 2014 Art of the State: Pennsylvania 2014 Exhibition held at the State Museum, Harrisburg, from June 22 through Sept. 14. There were 122 works chosen out of nearly 1,800 entries.
A silversmith for 24 years, she is a graduate of Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Philadelphia, with a degree in metalsmithing and jewelry design. Valerie is also a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and had her work chosen for the guild's "All Across Pennsylvania" Exhibition.
Her work has been seen in Schuylkill Living Magazine, Art Jewelry Magazine and Jewelers International Quarterly.
Pageant candidate
Marlana Kessler, 11, of Blandon, daughter of Joseph and Dawn Kessler, formerly of Girardville, was chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Pennsylvania Pageant to be held Aug. 9 and 10 at Hilton Harrisburg & Towers, Harrisburg. She will participate in the 10 to 12 preteen age division.
She is a granddaughter of Joseph and Jeanann Kessler, Girardville, and Gerald and Marilyn Chimokosky, Blandon, formerly of Minersville.
