SAINT CLAIR - The owners of the Uni-Mart are working to tear down three buildings next to it to make way for a bigger parking lot for their customers, Mike Singh, the store's manager, said Monday.

"Right now, we have five parking spaces. My plan is to make a bigger parking lot. We'd like to have about 20 spaces. A lot of people who come into my store have to park on the street. This will be more comfortable." Singh, who has managed the store at 61 S. Second St. for more than two years, said Monday.

Singh has hired Paul Burkholder, Kutztown, to demolish three buildings immediately to the north of the Uni-Mart. He identified the addresses as 59, 49 and 47 S. Second St. He expects the buildings to be down by the end of July.

The online Schuylkill Parcel Locator lists the addresses of these buildings, including the Uni-Mart building, differently.

In August 2005, Commercial Net Lease Realty TR, Orlando, Florida, bought the property at 45 S. Second St. from Stop 'N Go Foods of Mid Penn for $684,577, according to the parcel locator.

Singh, formerly of Queens, New York, now of Saint Clair, said he's a partner of Commercial Net Lease Realty TR. He said the address for the Uni-Mart is actually 61 S. Second St.

In July 2013, Kaur Kashmir and Bala Jayoti, Jamaica, New York, bought the property at 43 S. Second St. from Harold W. Hammer for $12,000, according to the parcel locator.

This property, which has already been knocked down, is 59 S. Second St., according to Singh.

In July 2013, Kashmir and Jayoti bought the property at 41 S. Second St. from Hammer for $12,000, according to the parcel locator.

This property, which is slated to be demolished, is 49 S. Second St., according to Singh, and the number "49" has been spray painted on the building's facade.

In October 2013, Kashmir and Jayoti bought the property at 49 Second St. from Leo W. Keller for $3,000, according to the parcel locator.

This property, which is also slated to be demolished, is 47 S. Second St., according to Singh, and an address number plaque displaying the number "47" is fixed to the front of that property.

On Monday, borough Secretary Roland Price said he was under the impression Singh was planning to tear down two properties, not three. Price said he plans to look into the matter to see if paperwork filed at borough hall is correct.

Meanwhile, Price said he's also looking into another matter. He said Singh may have to acquire a land development application to establish a new parking lot, and that application will have to be approved by the Saint Clair Planning Commission and the borough council.
