Man stabbed
in Shenandoah
SHENANDOAH - A man was stabbed in the borough Monday evening and a suspect was taken into custody in connection with the incident, authorities said.
A Schuylkill County Communications Center supervisor said the incident occurred at 7:13 p.m.
Shenandoah police Officer Travis Bowman confirmed that a stabbing occurred near West and Cherry streets and that the victim, whom he did not identify, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.
Bowman also did not release the suspect's name or additional information as of press time.

McADOO - State police at Frackville said summer recreation equipment apparently fell off of a vehicle on Interstate 81 in Kline Township on Friday afternoon.
Police said the equipment was found at 4:20 p.m. that day, and the owner can claim the items by calling 570-874-5300 and providing a description.
Drivers not hurt
in collision
SHEPPTON - Two drivers were not hurt when their vehicles struck trees Monday morning on Route 924 in East Union Township, police said.
State police at Frackville said Dylan Latham, 20, of Sheppton, was southbound on Route 924 at 7:40 a.m. when he lost control of a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer while rounding a left curve and struck a tree on the west berm, traveling into the path of a northbound 1999 Ford Ranger driven by Will Dutelly, 33, of Shenandoah. Police said Dutelly tried to avoid a collision with Latham's sport utility vehicle and struck a tree on the east berm.
Police said Latham will be cited as a result of the crash and that both vehicles were towed from the scene and both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
East Union Township police were not working at the time of the crash, police said.
2 establishments
face citations
The state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited two area establishments for violations that occurred earlier this year.
Press releases issued by the bureau's District Office 9, Bethlehem, said the businesses included L&P Holdings LLC, T/A Encounters Tavern, 106 Market St., Port Carbon, and Slapjacks Inc., 500 Pottsville St., Minersville.
According to the bureau, Encounters was issued a citation June 2 for failing to have a board-approved manager complete RAMP training with 180 day of the board's approval of the appointment between Feb. 15 and March 27. The bureau charged Slapjacks with possessing or operating gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitting gambling or lotteries, poolsetting and/or bookmaking on its licensed premises on Feb. 18 and March 26, according to a release.
The bureau said the charges will be brought before an administrative law judge, who can impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses, suspend or revoke the establishment's license or mandate training.
