Susquehanna
Ian Murray, Ringtown, a junior majoring in biology, was recently inducted into the national biological honor society Beta Beta Beta at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove.
A 2012 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, he is a son of Thomas and Cynthia Murray.
Ashley Machamer, Lykens, was recently inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta honor society for first-year students at Susquehanna University. She is a first-year student majoring in psychology.
A 2013 graduate of Williams Valley High School, she is a daughter of Jennifer and Adam Kramer and Mark and Brooke Machinery.
John Slater, Ashland, is serving an internship this summer with Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. He is a senior majoring in biology at Susquehanna University.
John's responsibilities include job shadowing physicians in various areas and working with other hospital staff. The internship is providing him with valuable experience in preparation for a career in the medical industry.
A 2011 graduate of Tri-Valley High School, he is a son of John and Donna Slater.
Lebanon Valley
Eight Lebanon Valley College students and Professor Shelly Moorman-Stahlman traveled to Los Angeles in May as part of an Organ Guild-sponsored trip to perform on some of the United States' most renowned organs.
Local students who were part of the contingent include Cody P. Kelly, Minersville, a graduate of Minersville Area High School majoring in music and music education, and Corrine J. Frederick, Schuylkill Haven, a graduate of Blue Mountain High School majoring in music education and music.
Moorman-Stahlman accompanied the students to spaces she describes as "spectacular," such as a Dobson organ at the Cathedral of our Lady; a 300-rank organ and the largest church pipe organ in the world at the First Congregational Church and the Walt Disney Hall organ.
