n Nuremberg: The Black Creek Township Recreation Committee will sponsor a pool party from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Glen Pool. n Pottsville: The Pottsville Kiwanis Club met recently at the Pottsville Zone, during which Ann Beaver told members the club distributed 1,270 early learning books in the community and would shortly reach the 2,000 mark. According to the Kiwanis Bulletin, Henry and Ann Beaver will represent the club as delegates at the Pennsylvania Kiwanis District Convention in Valley Forge in August. The club will have to prepare a new slate of officers and directors for election for the 2014-15 term. People are needed to fill the vice president and second vice president slots as well as seats on the board of directors. Those interested should contact any current officer or director. Volunteers also are needed to serve on the Kiwanis Inaugural Committee to plan for the October inauguration of officers.

n Ringtown: St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 100 E. Main St., will host Concert in the Lot from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday featuring the Catawissa Military Band. A concession stand with homemade food will be available. People should bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music.
n Saint Clair: The nonprofit group Walk Saint Clair! will sponsor the Mill Creek Jaunt from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 23. The walk will begin at the Saint Clair Community and Historical Society, 24 N. Nichols St., led by Roland Price. Walkers will go north to the electric transfer station and then south to the borough line on Caroline Avenue and then retrace their steps. n Tamaqua: The Tamaqua Safety Initiative is organizing events for National Night Out, an effort to fight crime on the nation's streets. The event is set for 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 5, with most activities planned for the area near the Tamaqua Arts Center at 125 Pine St. Entertainment will be provided by the band Original Sounds. So far at least 15 organizations have said they will participate. The Tamaqua Salvation Army will conduct a Kidz Karnival from 2 to 9 p.m. that day at the North Railroad Street parking lot.
n Tamaqua: An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the Tamaqua Salvation Army center.
