NEWTOWN - A woman was extricated from her vehicle Monday after her vehicle crashed in Reilly Township.

Linda Clark, 74, of Millersburg, Dauphin County, was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile Auora east on Route 25 when she drove off the road, Schuylkill Haven state police Trooper Jeffrey Hummel said Monday.

Her vehicle hit a telephone pole, a speed limit sign and went down an embankment. Her car was suspended by trees over a body of water, he said.

"She kept saying that she wasn't injured," Hummel said, despite a small cut on Clark's nose. Clark was wearing a seat belt.

Emergency services personnel tended to her before she was removed at 6:40 p.m.

The roof of the car was removed so emergency personnel could get her.

She was conscious as she was placed in a Tremont Area Ambulance at 6:42 p.m., which left the scene shortly thereafter.

The extent of her injuries is unknown, Hummel said.

Hummel said he does not know if Clark went to the hospital or was flown to one.

A supervisor with the Schuylkill County Communications Center said a call came in at 5:46 p.m. for the car accident that was about a mile outside of Newtown.

The road was blocked to traffic near the scene of the accident due to the crash.

Justin Strickler, with the Newtown Fire Department, said paramedics said she had a head injury. He was told a landing zone was designated in Branchdale.

He did not know if she was flown.

Hummel said Clark does not know how the accident happened.

There were no skid marks on the road.

There were two witnesses to the crash, but Hummel did not get to speak with them at the scene.

"I don't believe she was speeding," he said, but said she would be cited because of the crash.

Firefighters from Branchdale, Minersville, Donaldson and Newtown responded with Tremont Area Ambulance, West Schuylkill Advanced Life Support Ambulance, Hegins fire police and Schuylkill Haven state police.
