jump from roof
A Pottsville man was injured when he jumped from a garage roof in an alley off of Union Street in the city about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Pottsville police said Cody Roehrig, 22, of 3045 Chestnut St., was apparently despondent when he jumped about 12 feet from the roof. He ran to a parking lot across Progress Avenue, where he was standing when officers arrived.
Police said initial reports indicated a person jumped from the roof of the Ramada Inn but was later determined that the person, Roehrig, jumped from the garage.
Police said Roehrig was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street and flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of possible head injuries.

McADOO - A theft that occurred at a construction site in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 at mile marker 136.3 in Kline Township, between 3 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday is being investigated by state police at Frackville.
Police said someone tried to enter a locked storage container and, unable to do so, cut the lock off of a box that contained gas cans and fled with those items valued at $245.

Delano man
sought in stop
McADOO - Borough police are looking for information leading them to locate a Delano man who fled from officers during a traffic stop on South Kennedy Drive at 2:45 a.m. Saturday.
Police said they stopped a vehicle driven by a man later identified as Fred Williams, 50, of 30 Walnut St., for a violation. As the officer walked toward the vehicle, Williams fled south on Route 309 at a high rate of speed toward Rush Township, and eventually lost officers and eluded police from Rush and Ryan townships and Tamaqua borough.
Police said the owner of the car contacted officers on Sunday and said she was a passenger during the incident and that Williams was driving her car. It was also learned that Williams was driving with a suspended license and that there was an active warrant for his arrest through the Schuylkill County Courthouse.
N.Y. man faces
charges in Shen
SHENANDOAH - A New York man is facing charges by borough police after an incident at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday that began in the 600 block of West Washington Street.
Police said Anthony Toma, 22, who has no fixed address, was charged with theft, receiving stolen property, DUI, DUI-controlled substance, criminal mischief, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles or property, careless driving, reckless driving, drivers required to be licensed, driving on a sidewalk and limitations on backing.
Police said they received a call about a vehicle crashing into other vehicles. The suspect vehicle, a 2008 Buick Lacrosse, was later located in a dirt lot in the 700 block of West Coal Street, and police were told by dispatchers that the driver was hiding in the woods nearby.
Officers found the man, later identified as Toma, lying in a thick patch of bushes. Police said the man fled but was taken into custody after being tackled a short time later in a drainage ditch.
Toma told officers he saw the vehicle running in the street and thought he would take it for a "joy ride," police said. After detecting an odor of alcohol on the man's breath, he was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, for a blood alcohol test.
In all, police said four parked vehicles were damaged along with a fire hydrant at Coal and Walnut streets. The owner of the vehicle told officers she was familiar with Toma, but that he did not have permission to take her car.
Woman not hurt
in 2-car crash
FRIEDENSBURG - Two woman were not injured in an crash at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday on Dad Burnhams Road in Washington Township.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said a 2008 Ford Focus, driven by Camille M. McGonigle, 24, of Pottsville, was traveling west for Ferebees Road and a 2006 Ford Escape, driven by Helen B. Willis, 46, of Schuylkill Haven, was traveling north on Dad Burnhams Road.
McGonigle failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Ferebees Road and Dad Burnhams Road and her vehicle then struck Willis' vehicle.
Willis continued to travel west, through a flower bed at 291 Flathill Road, where it came to final rest facing west in the lawn of the residence.
McGonigle's vehicle spun clockwise and came to final rest facing north on Dad Burnhams Road.
McGonigle faces charges in relation to the crash.
Assisting at the scene was Friedensburg Fire Company and fire police.
Woman accused in wallet theft
McADOO - An incident on June 24 led to charges being filed by McAdoo police against a borough woman.
Police said a McAdoo man reported his wallet was stolen and his credit cards used twice. The investigation determined that Sara Fletcher, R212 S. Kennedy Drive, used the card once to buy items worth $6.41 and again for items valued at $122.34, including two cartons of cigarettes.
Video surveillance showed Fletcher purchasing the items and forging the signature on the receipt, police said.
Police said Fletcher will have to appear before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, Tamaqua, on charges of forgery, theft and conspiracy.

McADOO - Borough police are investigating an incident of suspicious activity at 27 N. Madison St. that occurred about 1:20 a.m. Monday.
Police said the homeowners reported hearing noises that sounded like someone rummaging around their home and then heard the side door close. When the residents went downstairs, they saw someone run into a wooded area behind their home and also found a metal basement door ajar, police said.
