Misericordia

Jennifer Cory graduated May 18 summa cum laude from Misericordia University, Dallas, Luzerne County, with a bachelor's degree in sport management.

She graduated with a cumulative 3.9 GPA and also was named to the dean's list every semester.

Jennifer was inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta honor society. She has accepted a graduate assistant position at Messiah College, Grantham, in the fall to pursue a master's degree in higher education with a concentration in college athletics management. She will also coach softball for the Falcons.

A 2009 graduate of Minersville Area High School, she is a daughter of Dave Cory and the late Diane Cory and a granddaughter of Ann Piccioni, Pottsville, and Anna Halubakos, Reading.

West Chester

Lauren Nicole Dukmen graduated summa cum laude from West Chester University with a bachelor's degree in chemistry-biology.

Lauren was a member of the march band and pre-med club.

She plans to continue her studies in August at DeSales University, Center Valley, to pursue her master's degree in the physician's assistant program.

She is a daughter of John and Rosalyn Dukmen, Pottsville, and a 2009 graduate of Blue Mountain High School.

Purdue

Amanda Leigh Rennick, daughter of Bob and Karen Rennick, Saint Clair, graduated May 12 from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., with a doctor of pharmacy degree.

While studying at Purdue, she was selected to participate in the President's Leadership Class as one out of nearly 7,000 freshman. She also was named to the board of directors of the Purdue Alumni Student Experience, was president of the professional pharmacy fraternity, Phi Delta Chi, and was inducted into the Phi Lambda Sigma pharmacy leadership society.

As a pharmacy student, Amanda participated in a study abroad program with the School for International Training, where she spent six weeks in the Yunnan Province of China studying traditional Chinese medicine. She was also selected to work for eight weeks at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kenya as a part of her rotations experience.

In the last year of pharmacy school, Amanda collaborated with the Doctor of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience and preceptor of a nephrology rotation, Dr. Brian Shepler, to publish "Nicotinic Acid and Nicotinamide: a Review of their use for Hyperphosphatemia in Dialysis Patients" in the journal of Pharmacotherapy.

Amanda has accepted a position with the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. She is a 2007 graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

Albright

Deanne Rupert, graduated May 19 from Albright College, Reading, with a dual major in criminology and international relations.

At Albright, Deanne completed an internship with Interpol, Washington D.C., through the Washington Center. She was named to the dean's list for the spring semester and was also inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, political science honor society.

She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Rupert, Barnesville, and a 2009 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School.

Shippensburg

Jonathan Liem graduated cum laude from Shippensburg University with a bachelor's degree in English. He completed his student teaching at Central Dauphin Middle School and Shippensburg High School.

He was a member of the Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society, National Council of Teachers of English and Who's Who among Students in American Universities.

His future plans are to teach English at the junior or senior high school level.

A 2009 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, he is a son of Tina and Ron Liem, Frackville, and grandson of the late Atty. and Mrs. John H. Thomas and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Liem.

Jefferson Medical

Allison J. Kasmari, M.D., Minersville, graduated from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, with the degree of doctor of medicine.

While at Jefferson, Allison served for four years as a representative of her peers on the Jefferson Medical College Student Council. She participated in clinical research through the refugee clinic in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, completing a project on chronic disease and hypertension management in the refugee population.

She was chosen to be a member of the Hobart Amory Hare Honor Medical Society and the George McClellan Surgical Honor Society.

She was the recipient of The Alexander and Lottie Katzman Award in Gastroenterology for being the most proficient student in gastroenterology.

Dr. Kasmari will begin a residency in internal medicine at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.

She is a 2005 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Delaware with degrees in biological sciences and liberal studies.

Allison is a daughter of Alexander T. and Beth Kasmari, Minersville, and a granddaughter of Florence Doyle, Minersville.

Lake Erie

Maggie Yesalavage, Girardville, earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine on June 2 at the Bayfront Convention Center, Erie.

She will move on to a psychiatry pesidency program with the aspirations to become a child and adolescent psychiatrist in the future.

She is a granddaughter of Mich-ael and Peggy Yesalavage, Girardville.

IUP

Kerri Hegarty, Tamaqua, graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in deaf education and elementary education and minor in educational psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

She has accepted a position at Legacy High School, Las Vegas, Nev.., and is a daughter of Sean and Marian Hegarty, Tamaqua.
