Commonwealth

Frank Albert Fetterolf, Llewellyn, received a doctor of medicine from The Commonwealth Medical College, Scranton.

While at TCMC, Frank engaged in both basic and clinical science research. He holds first-author publications in molecular neurobiology and general hospital psychiatry. As an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, he has presented numerous times at its annual meetings and he has served as the national chairman for its medical student branch, PsychSIGN. His research and clinical achievements earned him the Dr. Thomas Detre Senior Medical Student Award in Psychiatry from the University of Pittsburgh.

Frank will begin his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh's world-renowned Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic.

A Nativity BVM High School graduate, he earned a bachelor's degree in 2008 from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He is a son of Frank and Mary Fetterolf and brother of Maria and Michael Fetterolf, Llewellyn.

East Stroudsburg

Maria Catherine Fetterolf, Llewellyn, graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and gerontology (concentration) from East Stroudsburg University, East Stroudsburg.

At ESU, she was involved with Student Senate, Alpha Sigma Tau and she was president of the greek honor society, Order of Omega. Even while being an active member of the campus community, she was able to make the dean's list each semester.

After graduating from ESU, Maria was awarded a position in the Corporation for National & Community Service, more popularly known as AmeriCorps. Her leadership ability and communication skills landed her an assignment at Camphill Soltane, which is part of a larger international movement of non-sectarian, nonprofit organizations promoting human services through a cooperative life, social interaction and spiritual activity based on Anthroposophy as developed by Rudolf Steiner. The community offers a supportive, relationship-rich environment for young adults with developmental and learning disabilities. Maria is immersed in the work and support of students as a full-time resident of the community.

This fall, she will begin master's studies at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, concentrating in mental health and psychotherapy.

A graduate of Nativity BVM High School, she is a daughter of Frank and Mary Fetterolf and sister of Frank and Michael Fetterolf, Llewellyn.

Muhlenberg

Erin R. Litsch graduated May 19 from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, with a bachelor's degree in English. She also completed a minor in art history and obtained her Pennsylvania Secondary English certification for teaching. She graduated with the Latin honors of magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

Erin was named to the dean's list for all eight semesters of study and was the recipient of the Anne E. Wonsiewicz Scholars in Education Award in last spring and this spring. This award is given by the Muhlenberg College Education Department to a student who exhibits outstanding academic achievement and superior potential for teaching excellence.

She completed student teaching at both Orefield Middle School and Northwestern Lehigh High School.

Erin is a member of the Alpha Epsilon Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society which recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and who hold leadership positions that positively impact their campus community. She held the office of president from spring 2012 to this spring and was awarded the Muhlenberg Excellence in Leadership Award for an outstanding Omicron Delta Kappa member in spring 2012.

Erin was a lead tutor of the Muhlenberg College Writing Center, where she was a writing assistant for first-year seminars, writing associate for upperclassmen writing intensive courses, drop-in center tutor and writing mentor for students with special learning needs. She worked with her fellow tutors and faculty to improve the center and designed workshops for the training of the tutors in the program. In November 2011, she was selected to present her research, "Navigating the Seas of Embedded Tutoring," in an individual lecture at the National Conference of Peer Tutors of Writing in Miami, Fla.

In October 2012, she was again selected to present her research, "Adapting to the Call of Duty: The Roles of the Writing Tutor in the Classroom," in an individual lecture at the International Writing Center Association Conference, San Diego, Calif. She presented to her fellow tutors, college faculty members and leading writing practice theorists.

Erin also worked in the Muhlenberg College Admissions Office and was a campus tour guide for three years. She was a member of the Muhlenberg Activities Council, Muhlenberg Education Society and a peer notetaker during her four years as well.

She is employed by the Northwestern Lehigh School District.

A 2009 graduate of Marian High School, she is a daughter of George and Diane Litsch, Tamaqua, and a granddaughter of Marian LaBella, Tamaqua, and Sadie Litsch, Mahanoy City.

Immaculata

Mercedes Nicole Shelcusky, Pottsville, graduated May 19 from Immaculata University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in psychology.

While at Immaculata, she was president of the exercise science club and treasurer of the health sciences club. She was also a member of the Macs respect life club, Immaculata University Honor Society, Exercise Science Honor Society and Psychology Honor Society.

Mercedes is continuing her studies at the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia, where she is enrolled in the doctor of physical therapy program.

A 2009 graduate of Nativity BVM High School, she is a daughter of David and Deborah Shelcusky, Pottsville, and granddaughter of Joseph and Kathleen Shelcusky, Woodstown, N.J.

Bloomsburg

Tara L. See, Minersville, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology from Bloomsburg University.

She is a daughter of Kathy Mann, Minersville, and a granddaughter of Arthur and Marian Long, Tremont.

Penn State

Jonathan Michael Gallis graduated May 3 from Penn State University with a bachelor's and master's degree in architectural engineering and a minor in architectural studies.

During his summers, he had internships with the engineering services division of the Penn State Office of Physical Plant, and with the American Institute of Steel Construction, Chicago, Ill.

He completed the Architecture Department's study abroad program at Sede di Roma, Rome, Italy in summer 2010.

While at Penn State, Jonathan competed with the PSU cycling club in the Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference. He represented the Penn State student chapter of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute at the 2013 Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition held in Seattle, Wash.

He has accepted a position as structural engineer in the design division of Smislova, Kehnemui & Associates, Potomac, Md.

Jonathan is a son of Michael and Lucille Gallis, Orwigsburg, and a 2008 Blue Mountain High School graduate.

Lighthouse

Jimmy Lee Saunders was chosen valedictorian of his high school class at Lighthouse Christian Academy, Lyons. He earned the award for outstanding, academic and leadership achievement.

He will enter Lehigh Carbon Community College as a sophomore.

Jimmy is a son of Jim and Judy Mekunis Saunders, who reside near Hawk Mountain, Kempton.

Berkeley

Andy Llanos, Frackville, received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Berkeley College, Paramus, N.J.

Dickinson

Patrick Thomas Mc-Breen graduated from Dickinson College, Carlisle, on May 19 with a bachelor's degree in law and policy.

A graduate of Schuylkill Haven Area High School, He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McBreen, Schuylkill Haven.

Cooley Law

Edward Barket Jr., Pottsville, graduated May 19 from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Lansing, Mich.

He was on the dean's list and the honor roll.

Edward is also a graduate of Elizabethtown College and Pottsville Area High School. He is a son of Edward Barket and Debra Barket.
