Gold Award
Angela Mason, a 2013 graduate of Minersville Area High School and a member of Senior Girl Scout Troop 01064, earned the Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.
Angela's Gold Award project included restoring the 200-year-old First Congregational Church Cemetery. It sparked from her concern that the cemetery was infested with weeds, trees and overgrowth.
Angela worked to beautify the cemetery by weeding and cutting the grass. She also created an informational poster about the cemetery to be displayed at the church.
At Minersville Area, Angela was secretary of her senior class and the German Club, captain of the varsity soccer team and a member of Teens Against Tobacco, classics club, cross country and track and field teams and the yearbook committee. She also played the lead role in the annual high school musical.
Angel will attend Shippensburg University in the fall, where she plans to study accounting.
