PINE GROVE - Sweet Arrow Lake County Park will host its annual Fourth of July Concert in the Park and Old-Fashioned Family Picnic once again this year on July 4.
The event runs from 2 to 7:30 p.m. and features a variety of activities.
Indian expert Dave McSurdy will have a free archeological program from 2 to 3 p.m. Using a portable dig, children can find Indian artifacts buried in the earth. McSurdy will also show the children how to find out the use of the artifacts. Participants can meet at the gazebo in the Fish and Boat Parking lot.
The Pine Grove Community Band will also play patriotic music during a free concert at the park. The concert starts at 6 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs.
A bounce house for children will open at 2 p.m. John "Splash the Clown" Sullivan, Pottsville, will also be there.
Red Creek Wildlife Center will have a program featuring live animals from 3 to 4 p.m. The program provides an opportunity to learn about animals native to Schuylkill County, their habitat and rehabilitation.
Everyone will be allowed to fish at the lake. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will allow anyone, resident or nonresident, to fish without a license on July 4.
People are also encouraged to walk on the boardwalk and trails or enjoy the lake. Canoe and kayak rentals will be available from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.
