Stephen J. Bayer
A Tamaqua man charged with raping a 12-year-old girl earlier this year had charges against him held for court during a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer.
Angel A. Resto, 21, of 62 Hunter St., Apt. B, was arrested by Tamaqua police Cpl. Henry Woods and charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault of a person under the age of 13, indecent assault, corruption of minors and unlawful contact with a minor.
Bayer determined the Commonwealth proved a prima facie case and ordered all six charges held for Schuylkill County Court.
Woods charged Resto, who was 20 at the time, for an incident in Jan. 5 at a home on North Railroad Street.
Woods said the girl reported meeting Resto, a man who she knew as Sketch, and on Jan. 5 he came to her home and the two went to a bedroom. In the bedroom, the girl said Resto kissed her and said "I want you bad."
The girl said that Resto then undressed her and two had sexual intercourse for about 20 minutes and then left after getting a telephone call, Woods said.
When interviewed Woods said Resto denied any involvement with the girl and said that although he was at her home he had never been inside.
