MINERSVILLE - Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers and Minersville police are asking for the public's help in finding those responsible for slashing the tires of 26 vehicles in the borough earlier this month.

Police said the vandalism occurred while the vehicles were parked and unattended in the New Minersville section of the borough.

The damage, police said, occurred between 1 and 5 a.m. Nov. 3 primarily at Saint Francis, Pine Hill, Oak, Pottsville and Lydle streets.

Police said a neighbor in the area saw three people but couldn't identify them since it was dark and they were wearing hoods.

Damage was estimated to be about $5,000, according to police.

In addition, police said the individuals were also said to be smashing pumpkins on doorsteps.

Police are urging anyone who may have a "game" camera to set it up at night to try to catch anyone who may be causing such damage in New Minersville.

Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to those responsible for these crimes or on any other unsolved crime in Schuylkill County.

Callers are asked to refer to incident 11-24-13 when calling with information about the tire slashings in Minersville.

Anyone with information is asked to call Schuylkill County Crime Stoppers, toll-free, at 877-TIPS4SC or 877-847-7472.

Individuals can also call Minersville police directly at 570-544-2333 or 570-544-6212.

All information received will remain confidential.
