AUBURN - The Make-A-Wish auction at Christmas Pines Campground raised the most money to date.
"It's our 14th year, and it is our best year so far," Lois Dalton, organizer for the event, said.
A total of $13,319.46 was achieved from the event, which is $108.97 more than last year. Dalton attributed the success to the fact that the event was held over two days this year to give more people a chance to come out. She estimated that between 500 and 800 people attended.
About 300 donated and purchased prizes were available for bid as well as food available for sale.
Winners from the auction were announced at 6 p.m. Saturday. Attendance of the winners was not mandatory.
Tickets were as low as $1 for one ticket, $4 for 25 tickets and $5 for chance at an iPad or TV.
Dalton said the prize with the most amount of tickets was a metal tree covered in lottery tickets.
Proceeds were donated to Make-A-Wish for Callie Green, 17, of Schuylkill County, who was chosen by the local Make-A-Wish chapter.
Her wish is to go to the Country Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee, and, with the event's proceeds, the wish can be granted.
"Usually the average wish is between $3,000 to $4,000," Dalton said.
Excess funds from the event could possibly help another Schuylkill County resident's wish come true, Dalton said.
Dalton said she is thankful for all who helped make the event a success, including those who donated, volunteers and the owners of the campground, Dorrie Lowthert and her husband, Clyde.
